Katie Lowry, LPC
Katie Lowry is a licensed professional counselor who loves working with couples and individuals across the lifespan, including college-aged adults. Licensed in Virginia and New Jersey, Katie has experience working with children, adults, couples and families in school-based and private practice settings. Her dedication to the dignity of the human person informs her professional work in ministry, social justice, school counseling and therapy.
Katie graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Architecture, and a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education, with additional post-grad coursework at Divine Mercy University. She approaches all clients with openness to their experiences and strengths. Katie supports clients with depression, anxiety, complex trauma and those who are navigating major life transitions. She works with couples to restore connection from a variety of experiences, from those preparing for marriage, those looking for a "tune up," and couples who have felt disconnected for a long time.
Katie’s primary theoretical orientation is attachment theory through the lens of Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT- Externship level). In addition to working with clients utilizing EFT, Katie integrates other evidence-based practices including cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and systems theory while providing trauma-informed care for her clients. Katie is deeply honored to accompany clients and to help them experience healing. Helping individuals and couples find peace and restoration in their lives and relationships is one of Katie’s greatest joys.
Outside of work, Katie loves cooking savory foods for family dinner, getting outside with her husband and children, going on walks and reading on her front porch.
