FAQs

Who is counseling for?

We believe that everyone can benefit from some counseling. Some of us have been battling depression and anxiety for as long as we can remember. Some are going through a difficult life transition or grieving a significant loss. Others are battling loneliness in our jobs, families or in the unique challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Whether you have been struggling with mental illness all your life or desire an external perspective on life’s challenges, we are here to help! Contact us today to set up an appointment.

What is Christian Counseling? How is it different from other forms of counseling?

When we say Christian counseling, we are acknowledging that our faith in God affects every aspect of our worldview and will necessarily inform the way that we understand and address mental health and relational issues. If you are a Christian, it may be encouraging to know that your therapist shares these beliefs with you. If you are not a Christian, please keep in mind that we are never seeking to impose our beliefs on others. We utilize a range of empirically-validated counseling techniques, including Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Family Systems theory, and Trauma-informed Care. We believe that the support and growth characteristic of the counseling can be experienced in a range of appropriate settings, despite varying perspectives on spirituality and faith.

Do you accept my insurance?

Some of our clinicians are in-network with Anthem and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. For all other insurance plans and non-participating providers, services will be provided on an out-of-network basis. You may be able to receive partial reimbursement from your insurance company for out-of-network benefits. We are happy to provide you with an appropriate invoice for submission to your insurance company. Please inquire for more information about what services will be covered by your insurance.

Update: Effective July 1st, 2024, we will no longer be accepting insurance for couples or family counseling services. These services typically do not meet the medical criteria requirements for insurance companies and are therefore no eligible for reimbursement from insurance companies. For more information about our rates, please see the our Fees and Policies page.

Not at all. While our therapists integrate faith into their work for clients who desire it, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life. We’re here to provide compassionate, professional support—wherever you are on your journey.

How do I know which therapist is right for me?

We know that fit matters. When you reach out, our intake coordinator will ask a few questions to help match you with a therapist whose experience and availability align with your needs. You can also browse our team bios to learn more about each provider.

What kinds of issues do you work with?

Our therapists work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, and more. Some clinicians also offer support for spiritual concerns, identity questions, and burnout. Feel free to reach out if you’re unsure whether we’re the right fit—we’re happy to help you navigate your options.

Do you offer counseling for children or teens?

Yes, some of our therapists work with teens (ages 13+). While we do not currently offer therapy for young children, we’re happy to refer you to trusted providers who specialize in that age group.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee. Your therapist will review all policies with you during your intake process.

How often will I need to come to counseling?

That depends on your needs and goals. Most clients start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, but your therapist will collaborate with you to create a rhythm that works best. Over time, this frequency may shift as you make progress.
